Position Title Alliance Manager
Position Summary:

* Facilitates strategic relationships and alliances with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, research funding organizations, and foundations across diverse research areas at Scripps Research. Monitors existing corporate alliances and effectively positions and guides progression of Scripps’ technology within such alliances.
* Organizes and participates in Steering Committee meetings with existing alliance partners. Proactively communicates with alliance partners in attendance to various matters, resolution of issues and maintenance of positive relationships.
* Promotes awareness of intellectual property protection and technology transfer to researchers and industry. Markets technology, monitors agreements, and ensures compliance with governmental regulations.
* Work with investigators to develop collaborative project workplans and budgets, monitor progress versus goals, and enable efficient team decision-making strategies.
* Evaluates and analyzes new technology disclosures submitted by investigators. Meets with investigators to collect information on current stage of development and evaluate technology for commercial potential and marketability. Negotiates patent license agreements with industry partners.
* Markets new technologies to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies: identifies potential licensees of technology; prepares and distributes promotional and evaluation materials to potential partners or licensees of technology; initiates contact with companies and conducts meetings and presentations with potential licensees.
* Evaluates and analyzes new manuscripts and public disclosures submitted by investigators to ensure contractual compliance with any funding or collaborative research agreements.
* Provides advice to investigators regarding technology transfer, licensing, consulting, conflict of interest, and other related topics on an ongoing basis. Reviews and modifies or appends active agreements; serves as liaison between investigator and company.

This position works in a typical office environment. With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to sit and type at a computer terminal for up to 8 hours per day with appropriate breaks and perform tasks that require fine dexterity and repetitive motions using the arms, hands, wrists and fingers. Basic Qualifications:

* PhD in biological or chemical science; experience with drug discovery and development workflow a plus
* Strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
* Highly motivated, creative, and goal-oriented with strong work ethic and attention to detail
* Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
* The ability to develop a deep understanding of technology valuation principles and procedures and government or other funding source regulations, requirements, and obligations as they apply to technology transfer
* Must work well in a fast-paced environment, possess a cooperative can-do attitude, and be able to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor
