Position Title Behavioral Staff Scientist, Sr
Position Summary:

The Senior Staff Scientist will play a critical role in leading the development of the applied behavioral science team at Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI). An early focus will be to help build the knowledge base necessary to support the recruitment, engagement and retention of All of Us Research Program participants, especially those individuals historically underrepresented in clinical research. The All of US Research Program, plans to enroll over one million participants from across the United States and its territories, and to keep them engaged in the research program for at least 10 years primarily through ongoing digital communications. The Behavioral Scientist will work with the STSI / TSRI Principal Investigator (PI), all STSI Faculty, Directors, Associate Directors and external partners to develop, propose, implement, and analyze pragmatic behavioral research programs.

Position Responsibilities
* Propose, implement, and analyze innovative behavioral research programs that aim to improve participant enrollment and engagement in a wide range of healthcare research programs, including the All of Us Research Program.
* Conduct data analyses with the appropriate statistical approach.
* Collaborate with a wide range of external partners to develop relationships and to optimize interactions with to prospective study participants.
* Design and execute detailed research plans and timelines to provide data-driven insights and recommendations for helping transform the clinical research process.
* Performs other duties and tasks as required or requested.

Physical Requirements:

This position works in an office or dry laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:

* PhD in Behavioral Economics, Psychology or similar area of study.
* 2+ years of experience creatively and independently applying behavioral economic or social science research and experimental methodologies to answer real-world, and ideally, healthcare-related questions.
* Demonstrates technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and independent thought in methods of analysis and interpretation of results.
* Must work well in a team environment.
* Experience with statistical, analytic, and attribution modeling tools.

* Strong verbal and written communications skills.
* Excellent reporting and presentation experience, including presenting a clear and compelling story.
* Ability to prioritize and work well in an ambiguous environment with competing demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working on federally-funded NIH grants.
* Track record of impactful scientific publications preferred.
* Experience with grant writing and submissions preferred.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
