Position Title Bioinformatics Analyst I
Position Summary:

Under direct to general supervision, employ a variety of standard computational sequence analysis (mathematical and computing) tools to model and analyze molecular biological data. Representative duties include but are not limited to: create, set up and manage large biological computer databases; data preparation; employ computational sequence analysis methods for database searches, which may include utilizing existing or developing new algorithms, techniques, and computational statistical methodologies and theories to analyze datasets; maintain the computational infrastructure, as well as control the flow of samples and information for project studies; troubleshoot or modify procedures as required or directed; provide web-based bioinformatics and access to public and proprietary relational databases; may work collaboratively with scientific project teams to successfully implement users’ needs in database searching and integration; perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in bioinformatics, biostatistics or equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Masters in bioinformatics, biostatistics preferred.

Requires a minimum of 1-3 years relevant experience in a research environment. Experience creating and maintaining detailed electronic databases for multiple studies, auditing for errors and omissions, and maintaining associated tables and statistics used for publication in papers resulting from the studies.
Demonstrated proficiency of SPSS and a thorough understanding of hierarchical mixed-effect models, general linear modeling and ANOVA.
Must possess effective statistical analysis skills as well as the ability to write, read, interpret/translate, organize and communicate highly technical and complex scientific data and reports.
Must possess the ability to construct, interpret and clearly communicate information and data in a variety of formats (e.g. written, oral or figures).
Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Word, Excel (e.g. statistical graphing), PRISM, PowerPoint and in medical literature web searches.
Ability to operate independently on site as well as within a collaborative work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with clinical trials analysis is preferred.

Compensation: $51,792- $64,813 per year budgeted hiring range
