Position Title Grants Administrator II (Pre-Award)
Position Summary:

Provide professional-level administrative expertise in the review of grant and contract proposals of all levels of complexity, from basic fellowship application to complex, multi-project, multi-budget applications; coordinate the submission of grant applications through Sponsor portals, which includes interaction with administrative support staff, faculty, leadership and other key stakeholders to refine proposal elements, such as project budgets, ensure compliance with Sponsor guidelines for proposal submissions, maintain accurate records of grant submissions,, and promptly submit all manner of applications, such as renewals, supplements, amendments, subawards, etc, as well as communicate with the Sponsor on proposal-related matters on behalf of TSRI and Principal Investigators.

Specific responsibilities include reviewing grant applications and requests for funding for accuracy, reporting requirements, allowable costs, conformance with TSRI and Sponsor guidelines and any special conditions prior to application submission; analyzing Funding Opportunity Announcements and Program Solicitations for specific guidelines and instructions and making initial determinations of TSRI’s eligibility to apply for said opportunity; reviewing applications for specific compliance requirements, such as animal protocol approvals (IACUC), human subjects protocol approvals (IRB), Financial Conflicts of Interest (FCOI), and subrecipient documentation when applicable, providing corrections to grant applications and requesting revisions as appropriate; submitting finalized grant applications to the Sponsor via the Sponsor’s submission portal upon the completion of the application review process; developing and maintaining knowledge of funding agency and TSRI requirements and regulations and of funding agency electronic proposal submission processes; staying current on changes in federal and sponsor regulations that impact the pre-award elements of grant applications and proposal submissions; other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Physical Requirements:

This position works in a typical office environment. With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to sit and type at a computer terminal for up to 8 hours per day with appropriate breaks and perform tasks that require fine dexterity and repetitive motions using the arms, hands, wrists and fingers. Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, finance, business administration or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with the NIH and/or other Federal and Non-Federal Sponsors in reviewing and submitting all types and levels of grant applications from basic R01s to multi-project, multi-budget grants, preferably within a comparable non-profit research institution.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge and understanding of various grant application and submission processes.
  • Critical administrative analysis and efficient time management skills to effectively organize and prioritize workload, foresee problem areas and seek immediate action and resolution.
  • Strong computer skills to include word processing, web searching, downloading, and reporting, database manipulation, and spreadsheet management.
  • Solid and proven analytical, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with all levels of faculty, staff, and leadership within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneously while serving as a resource to TSRI personnel while providing a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to work independently, within tight timeframes, as well as excel in a collaborative environment.
