Position Title Lab Manager, Compound Management
Position Summary:

The Compound Management Group (CMG) Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the compound management group. The CMG Manager is the primary point of contact for compound requests, compound intake and registration, ensuring the compound library is maintained and all related data is collected and stored. The CMG Manager provides training and guidance to staff within the compound management team and ensures that all compound management equipment is in proper working order.

Position Description

* Maintain and fill compound requests through internal Lab Information Management Systems and ensure accurate tracking of workflows.
* Manage the receipt, storage, and preparation of compounds as well as operation of liquid handling and analytical instrumentation.
* Collaborate with scientists from multiple disciplines (both internal and external) to implement process automation to improve workflow and productivity.
* Write and implement SOPs, troubleshoot devices and QC instrumentation to ensure that all processes are working properly.
* Develop methods, troubleshoot and operate liquid handlers, tube sorters, barcode readers, LC/MS systems and other CMG instrumentation.
* Ensure smooth operation of the lab on a daily basis by monitoring and checking work performed by the Research Assistant and Research Technician.
* Arraying compounds from vials to microtiter plates using liquid handlers.
* Screening plate inventory management.
* Monitors and manages various cheminformatics programs and databases to ensure intersystem fidelity
* Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Education
* BS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related discipline required
* MS or other postgraduate degree in similar fields preferred

Experience & Attributes
* Five (5) years of applicable experience within the life sciences industry
* Hands-on experience in compound management and an excellent understanding of underlying processes
* Experience and ability to manage a small team of compound management staff
* Experience operating, programming and troubleshooting various instrumentation including acoustic dispensers span-8, 384 well pipetting systems, plate handlers, tube sorters modern HPLC and MS.
