Position Title OSP Accounting Representative I
Position Summary:

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) Accounting Representative I performs routine accounting transactions to ensure proper processing and reporting of financial data and supporting the Shared Services Accounting (SSA) system.
* Assists in the preparation of financial reports or presentations including the selection and interpretation of complex data.
* Sorts and retrieves data in financial systems.
* Processes accounting documents, verifies proper account assignment and application of appropriate accounting policies and procedures.
* Maintains petty cash and is responsible for distributions, reconciliation and replenishments.
* Prepares daily cash and check deposits, prepares associated journal entries for cash receipts journals and receives activity, reconciles discrepancies.
* Responsible for grantor requests for documents.
* Prepares, corrects, and maintains journal entries.
* Reviews and analyzes accounting documents for discrepancies, investigates problems, and recommends resolutions.
* Provides support for OSP Grants Administrators in final closeout of grant files.
* Performs other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

* Associate degree in Accounting or Finance or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
* 2+ years related accounting experience.
* Nonprofit accounting and scientific research institution experience preferred.
* Knowledge of accounting policies, practices, and accounting systems.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
* Strong attention to detail.
