Position Summary:

Scripps Research is currently seeking an Philanthropy Assistant for the Office of Philanthropy - FL. The selected candidate supports the activities of the department including database administration, donor and prospect research and donor relations/stewardship support. The candidate will contribute directly to the development of the relationship with the donor by ensuring prompt and accurate processing of the gift and thank-you letter, flagging opportunities or concerns to the fundraiser, and at times dealing directly with the donor to complete payment of their gift as well as maintaining the integrity of the database and assisting in prospect management and stewardship.

Key responsibilities include:
Database and administration Database gift processing, acknowledgement, stewardship, activity and financial reporting, queries, mailing lists and any other database cleanup, updates and administration. Provides support for director and senior director of the Philanthropy department including but not limited to data entry, packet preparation, meet and greet tasks, AV arrangements and assistance with campus tours.

Donor and Prospect Research
In conjunction with the bicoastal prospect research manager, conduct preliminary biographical, corporate, foundation and financial research for identified prospects and donors contributing data and analysis to aid in developing strategies, briefings and research profiles
Assist with prospect portfolio development as requested

Donor Relations & Stewardship Support:
Manage donor gifts in RE, keep accurate records for the timely processing of pledge reminders and appropriate stewardship reports.

Provides timely and accurate reports to the development team to ensure effective cultivation,
solicitation and donor recognition

Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma, or equivalent (GED), or an equivalent combination of education and training is required. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a nonprofit support role Strongly prefer candidates with a Bachelor’s degree. Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Publisher, familiarity with web-based tools and social networking. Must have 3 years’ experience working with databases with a strong preference for Raisers Edge. Must have strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to coordinate several projects at once. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be extremely service oriented and able to work with a variety of personalities. Must be flexible and able to manage sudden changes. Must be able to undertake the full spectrum of activities, from routine to complex. Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

Florida & Palm Beach County residents are preferred.
