A Postdoctoral Associate is a direct pay individual in a Division 3 status. Postdoctoral Associates are appointed positions for the purpose of developing scholarly competence, working under the supervision of a Scripps Research Faculty member. These appointments are normally not renewed beyond a total of six years. Postdoctoral Associates cannot apply for external funding either as a Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator without prior approval from a Departmental Chair. Postdoctoral Associates do not have consulting privileges.

Successful candidates are expected to have a strong molecular biology and cell biology background. Experience in live cell imaging, photo-conversion and photo-activation techniques are highly preferred. Competitive candidates will have one or more first-author manuscripts accepted or published in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals. This position is open for two years with the potential of further extension.
Using the mouse and sea slug Aplysia californica as models, the successful candidate will be studying molecular, cellular and circuit mechanisms underlying long-term memory storage using genomics, imaging, and electrophysiology.

Must possess a doctoral degree. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of the Principal Investigator.
