|Position Type:||Full Time|
|Position Title||Postdoctoral Associate|
|Position Summary:|| |
The Immunology and Microbiology Department at Scripps Research is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate. You are welcome to apply if you are interested in participating on the following project:
A methodology has been developed together with chemists to produce high affinity against a range of glycans that can be used to target tumor antigens as well as for the development of new vaccines. An extensive work on most serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae has shown how generalizable the approach is, and make venture to glycans expressed by tumors (gangliosides) and antibiotic-resistant bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus). Beyond the basic immunological evaluation of immune responses against our formulation of the synthetic immunogen that we produce (synthetic glycan-VLP-adjuvant-opsonin), we are aiming at discovering the structural basis for the high affinity-high specificity of the antibodies that we produce, and testing their potential to be moved to the clinic.
Candidates from a variety of backgrounds could contribute to this project: bacteriology, immunology, structural biology, chemistry.
