A Postdoctoral Associate is a direct pay individual in a Division 3 status. Postdoctoral Associates are appointed positions for the purpose of developing scholarly competence, working under the supervision of a TSRI Faculty member. These appointments are normally not renewed beyond a total of six years. Postdoctoral Associates cannot apply for external funding either as a Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator without prior approval from a Departmental Chair. Postdoctoral Associates do not have consulting privileges.

Postdoctoral positions are available in Dr. Jiang Zhu’s laboratory for highly motivated candidates who are interested in vaccine development for viral (HIV, HCV, Ebola, RSV, Flu, and Coronavirus) and non-viral (malaria and tuberculosis) pathogens. Postdoctoral salary is in the range of $54,000 to $60,000 depending on prior research experience and qualifications. Dr. Zhu holds a joint appointment in the Department of Integrative Structural and Computational Biology (ISCB) and the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at Scripps Research in La Jolla, CA (https://www.scripps.edu/). Dr. Zhu is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Texas Biomedical Research Institute (Southwest National Primate Research Center). |Basic Qualifications:|| |
Must possess a doctoral degree. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of the Principal Investigator.
|Preferred Qualifications:|| |
Successful candidates will have a recent Ph.D. in virology, microbiology, immunology, structural biology, or other related fields. Candidates with prior research experience in RSV, HIV, and Ebola vaccines are especially encouraged to apply.
