Position Summary:

This position is available at The Scripps Research Institute is located in La Jolla, California, and is one of the world’s largest, private, non-profit research organizations that stands at the forefront of basic biomedical and translational science. The institute provides world-class resources and a cooperative, collaborative environment, which promotes the outstanding discoveries made here.
The laboratory of Dr. Encalada studies the mechanisms of axonal transport and neurodegeneration in mammalian neurons and in C. elegans.
Day to day basis duties will include some lab organization and maintenance and direct assistance on lab research projects including doing C. elegans genetics, making transgenics, PCR, cloning and perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned. There may be also a possibility to handle own project. Will work under supervised training, will get occupational experience, and be able to develop research laboratory skills.

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires 1-3 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master’s degree, 0-2 years experience required.
Should be fast learner, interested in biology, reliable, and organized, and experience with C. elegans and/or mammalian cells is a plus.
Highly motivated, independent, fast learner, interested in biology, reliable, organized.

Preferred Qualifications:
Compensation: $19.58- 24.45 per hour budgeted hiring range
