Position Summary:

Research Assistant I position is available for a highly motivated individual to join a team of scientists whose projects focus on human antibodies and the development of antibody treatments to snakebite envenoming. Will function as an integral team member providing technical support to multiple scientists in the laboratory.
Job duties include:
* Maintain cell cultures and express proteins.
* Design, optimize and lead purification of proteins.
* Collaborate on planning and maintaining purification schedules.
* Apply affinity and size-exclusion chromatography.
* Run ELISA and related analysis.
* Order supplies
* Interpret data, make decisions and conduct trouble shooting on technical issues
* Participate in the preparation of data summary packages
* Project management of weekly technical activities and communication of progress.
Work under general supervision, independently and in collaboration with others perform research and conduct a wide variety of standard laboratory procedures for projects; analyze data and interpret results; investigate, troubleshoot and modify methods and procedures as necessary. May assist in designing experiments; may provide routine equipment maintenance as well as guidance/training to other department personnel; perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires 1-3 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master’s degree, 0-2 years experience required.
Experience with molecular biological techniques such as PCR and subcloning is highly desired. Experience with tissue culture, cell-based assays, as well as flow cytometry is preferable.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Ability to express and purify secreted proteins from mammalian cell (affinity chromatography and size exclusion chromatography, native and denaturing protein gels).
* DNA Amplification and Purification.
* Experience in mammalian tissue culture.
* Strong analytical, writing and communication in English.
* Team player with ability to work independently.
* Flexibility to solve unique scenarios and planning to meet firm deadlines.

Compensation: $20.07-$25.06 per hour budgeted hiring range.
