Position Summary:

The Research Assistant will assist in the development of HIV vaccine candidates based on the membrane-embedded form of the HIV-1 envelope glycoproteins (Env), as well as the isolation and characterization of HIV broadly neutralizing monoclonal antibodies (bnAbs). Will interact with experts across disciplines to address challenges at the cutting edge of vaccine design.
Job duties and responsibilities may include:
Cloning of HIV bnAbs from humans and vaccinated animals followed by analysis using various immunoassays.
Production and characterization of HIV envelope and virus-like particle vaccine candidates.
Molecular biology, mutagenesis, DNA, RNA preparation, protein purification, tissue culture, lymphocyte isolation, multi-parameter flow cytometry, ELISA, binding kinetics.
Working with an interdisciplinary team on NGS of B cell lineages, elucidating antibody-Env interactions at the molecular level, and designing Env vaccines with a capacity to elicit HIV bnAbs and perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires 1-3 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master’s degree, 0-2 years experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Compensation: $20.07-$25.06 per hour budgeted hiring range.
