Position Summary:

The Calibr neglected tropical disease team is seeking a highly motivated individual to be trained and integrated into a team environment to support multiple drug discovery programs. Under this role, the ideal candidate will work with other team members to support the execution of key high-throughput assays, maintain cell culture lines, and assist with additional projects as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform general lab duties
* Tissue culture and preparation of media and reagents
* Compound handling and plate inventory
* Maintain blood-stage cultures of Plasmodium falciparum, a BSL2 pathogen and the causative parasite of malaria
* Execute high-throughput assays against select BSL2 pathogens for screening campaigns and routine SAR profiling
* Data analysis and lab notebook documentation
* The position requires great attention to details, troubleshooting capability and flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Under general supervision, independently and in collaboration with others, perform research for projects; may provide interpretation and initial analysis of results; may investigate, troubleshoot and modify methods and procedures; may assist in designing experiments; perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology or a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires 1-3 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master’s degree, 0-2 years experience required.
* Prior experience with mammalian cell culture is strongly preferred
* Experience with cell-based and biochemical assays using methods such as imaging, luminescence, fluorescence and absorbance in high-density formats would be a plus
* Experience with data analysis using Excel, GeneData, Prism or a related program is preferred
* Excellent oral and written communications skills
* Letter of recommendation and/or at least one professional reference is required.
