Position Summary:

This position will involve working with high fat diet induced obesity model and evaluate genotype-dependent effects on metabolic parameters to study gene regulation in obesity.
Duties and responsibilities:

  • Will design experiments and prepares graphs of scientific data.
  • Carry out a high fat diet induced obesity model and maintain mouse colonies and records.
  • Perform metabolic testing (glucose and insulin tolerance tests and insulin signaling studies).
  • Harvest, isolate and collect murine cells and tissues and establish primary cell cultures.
  • Perform western blotting, qPCR and ELISAs and carry out gene regulation studies.
  • Perform confocal microscopy, immunoprecipitation and density gradient studies, FACS analysis and cell sorting and perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires 3-5 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master’s degree, 2+ years experience required.
Experience with Western blotting, qPCR, ELISA, molecular biology techniques, primary cell culture, FACS analysis, experience with animal models and organ and cell isolation and using excel spread sheets.

Preferred Qualifications:
Compensation: $49,920 - $57,408 per year budgeted hiring range.
