Position Summary:

Calibr, a division of Scripps Research is a not-for profit research institute located in La Jolla, California. Calibr is focused on innovative early stage translational research in the areas of regenerative medicine, cancer biology, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, immunology and infectious disease.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our multidisciplinary team working to discover and develop new drugs for kinetoplastid diseases. The position will require both independent as well as highly collaborative work carried out under minimal supervision. The successful candidate will work with other team members to support the execution of key high-throughput assays, maintain cell culture lines, and assist with additional projects as needed.

Position Description

Specific responsibilities include performance of general lab duties, tissue culture and preparation of media and reagents, compound handling and inventory, maintenance of cell cultures and BSL2 pathogens, execution of high-throughput assays against kinetoplastid pathogens for screening campaigns and routine SAR profiling, data analysis, lab notebook documentation, and equipment maintenance. The position requires great attention to detail, troubleshooting capability and flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, organization and time management skills.

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in biology, biochemistry, microbiology or related field
* 3-5 years laboratory experience
* Experience with cell-based and biochemical assays using methods such as imaging, luminescence, fluorescence and absorbance in high-density formats
* Excellent sterile technique and willingness to work with BSL2+ pathogens
* Experience with Leishmania, Trypanosoma cruzi and other infectious disease agents a plus, but not required
* Experience with data analysis using Excel, GeneData and Prism
* Excellent oral and written communications skills
* Letter of recommendation and/or at least one professional reference is highly preferred
