|Position Summary:|| |
The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) is currently seeking a Research Assistant II to join the Neuroscience Department for its Florida facility.
The selected candidate will plan and conduct novel research projects that involve a significant amount of light microscopy, including wide-field fluorescence, confocal, super-resolution, and possibly two-photon microscopy. The specimens to be employed include cultured cells, histological sections, and living laboratory animals. The successful candidate will assist in designing experiments, perform a thorough data analysis and interpretation of results, and operate sophisticated scientific lab equipment. The individual may pursue a research project solely and/or in collaboration with other lab members and supervise or provide work direction and training to other lab members. Other tasks and responsibilities will be assigned as necessary. The specific research projects will involve a morphometric and functional analysis of mitochondria and other cellular organelles in cultured cells, tissue sections, and living animals using advanced microscopy techniques.

|Basic Qualifications:|| |
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires 3-5 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master’s degree, 2+ years experience required; more senior candidates will also be considered.
The candidate should have significant work experience and knowledge in advanced microscopy techniques and procedures. Some experience in cell culture techniques would be helpful. General laboratory experience in the preparation of solutions and use of general laboratory equipment is required.
