|Position Summary:|| |
The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) is currently seeking a Research Assistant II to join the Genomics Core for its Florida facility.
The selected candidate will perform the full range of next generation sequencing services in the Scripps Florida Genomics Core.
Under minimal supervision, independently and in collaboration with others perform research and conduct a wide variety of standard laboratory procedures for projects; analyze data and interpret results; investigate, troubleshoot and modify methods and procedures as necessary; may assist in designing experiments; may provide routine equipment maintenance as well as guidance/training to other department personnel; perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

|Basic Qualifications:|| |
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires 3-5 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master’s degree, 2+ years experience required.
The candidate should have excellent pipetting skills with small volumes and prior experience with preparation and quantitation of nucleic acids and polymerase chain amplification.
|Preferred Qualifications:|| |
Prior experience and knowledge related to NGS library preparation and sequencing is highly desirable along with familiarity with basic bioinformatics tools used to quality control genomics data such as FastQC, genome browsers, and primer design programs.
