Position Summary:

We are seeking a talented Research Assistant to join our Protein Engineering group. The candidate will be responsible for molecular biology activities and protein production to support existing immunoncology, infectious disease and neurodegenerative platforms. This includes programs in small molecule immunotherapy and the development of novel immuno-oncology, antiviral and adjuvant-based targets through the use of protein engineering technologies to develop new therapeutics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Responsibilities are focused on, but not limited to molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, and biophysical characterization of proteins.
* Molecular biology activities include DNA isolation and purification, construct design, and assembly-based cloning.
* Expression of recombinant proteins in mammalian, insect, and bacterial platforms.
* Column-based protein purification by gravity and instrument-based chromatography methods.
* Characterization of proteins by existing methodologies and development of new biophysical assays.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires a minimum of 5 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master’s degree, 3+ years experience required.
* Must have experience in protein science, molecular biology, or another relevant field.
* Proficiency in DNA/RNA isolation and purification, classical and assembly-based cloning methods, site-directed mutagenesis, and PCR is required.
* Experience with bacteria and transient mammalian expression systems is required. Experience with baculovirus and/or yeast expression systems is a plus.
* Proficiency with column-based chromatography, AKTA instrumentation, and UNICORN software is essential.
* Experience with protein analytics, including SDS-PAGE, ELISA, HPLC chromatography, and protein mass spectrometry (LC/MS) is highly preferred. Experience with capillary electrophoresis (CE), surface plasmon resonance (SPR), biolayer interferometry (BLI), and/or dynamic light scattering (DLS) is a plus.
* Must possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills.
* The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
