Position Summary:

Calibr, a division of Scripps Research is a not-for profit research institute located in La Jolla, California. Calibr is focused on innovative early stage translational research in the areas of regenerative medicine, cancer biology, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, immunology and infectious disease. The Calibr global health team is seeking a highly motivated individual to support antiviral drug discovery programs. Under this role, the ideal candidate will work in a team environment to support the execution of key high-throughput assays, develop new in vitro assays, and maintain cell culture lines.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform general lab duties
* Tissue culture and preparation of media and reagents
* Compound handling and plate inventory
* Work with BSL3 viruses may be required
* Develop in vitro assays for select BSL2 and BSL3 viruses
* Execute high-throughput assays against select BSL2 and BSL3 viruses for screening campaigns and routine SAR profiling
* Data analysis and lab notebook documentation
* The position requires great attention to detail, troubleshooting capability and flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements:

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science in biology, biochemistry, microbiology or related field
* 3-5 years laboratory experience
* Experience working with viruses: stock generation, determining infectious titers, setting up in vitro assays
* Willingness to work with BSL3 pathogens, prior experience working in a BSL3 is preferred, but not required
* Experience with cell-based and biochemical assays using methods such as imaging, luminescence, fluorescence and absorbance in high-density formats
* Experience with database interface and data analysis using Excel, GeneData and Prism
* Excellent oral and written communications skills
* Letter of recommendation and/or at least one professional reference is required
