Position Title Research Scientist - Bioanalytical
Position Summary:

Calibr, a division of Scripps Research, is focused on innovative early stage translational research in collaboration with academic partners in the areas of regenerative medicine, cancer biology, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, immunology and infectious disease. ?
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist in the DMPK group to join Calibr’s multi-disciplinary drug discovery efforts. The DMPK Scientist will serve a multi-faceted role as (1) DMPK bioanalytical scientist and project representative for early discovery programs and (2) manager of external workflows to ensure high quality data. The role includes collaboration with CROs, reviewing data and summary reports generated externally. The successful candidate will be an accomplished "do-er" who has demonstrated the ability to apply state-of-the-art technologies for bio analysis, drug metabolism, drug transport and pharmacokinetics in biotech and/or pharma.

The DMPK department works in close partnership with disciplines such as medicinal chemistry, in vivo pharmacology, toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology and regulatory to optimize lead compounds, select clinical candidates, conduct preclinical studies, support clinical development and contribute to regulatory filings

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Development, troubleshooting, validation, and implementation of LC-MS/MS assays for analysis of non-clinical pharmacokinetic or toxicokinetic samples.
* Adopt and/or develop new technologies and platforms to address bioanalytical challenges and needs.
* Perform sample preparation utilizing solid/liquid extraction for bioanalytical testing and reporting of study samples.
* Prepares and validates bioanalytical reports from internal sources and from CROs.
* Interpret in vivo DMPK and bioanalytical findings, write reports, and communicate with scientists
* Maintenance of accurate and detailed scientific notebooks.
* Works independently to meet team goals and objectives.
* Operate and maintain LC-MS equipment.

Physical Requirements:

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:

* BS or MS degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related scientific discipline with 5+ years of experience in a bioanalytical laboratory.
* Have strong HPLC-MS/MS operational skills
* Hands-on experience in the development of LC/MS/MS assays for the quantitative of small molecules and identification of metabolites from diverse biological matrices.
* Sample preparation solid/liquid extraction experience required.
* Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and trouble-shooting skills required
* Ability to manage multiple competing priorities, while working on multiple projects simultaneously
* Excellent communication skills as well as a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, and graphical computer programs (MS EXCEL, MS WORD, GraphPad Prism, for example) required
* Good organizational, documentation and technical writing skills required
