Position Summary:

This position is for a structural biology lab interested in vaccine design against viral and parasitic pathogens such as HIV and Malaria. The candidate will be involved in the production, biophysical characterization, and quality control analysis of protein immunogens for use in animal immunization and structural biology experiments. The candidate will employ the following techniques: molecular cloning, plasmid preparation, mammalian cell culture, affinity chromatography, biolayer interferometry, differential scanning fluorimetry, ELISA, and electron microscopy.

Job duties may also include buffer preparation, equipment maintenance, restocking supplies and other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline and up to one (1) year of related experience. Three (3) to six (6) years of related laboratory experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical expertise in electron microscopy is not required, however familiarity with protein production using FPLC and column chromatography is highly preferred.

Previous experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, and protein purification is preferred. The candidate must be motivated, enthusiastic, and possess good record keeping, organization, and communication skills. Additionally, the candidate must be willing to learn a diversity of techniques used in the study of immunology and structural biology.

Compensation: Budgeted Hourly Rate $18.13-$22.19
