Position Title Senior Research Assistant
Position Summary:

Scripps Research is currently seeking a Senior Research Assistant with experience in cell and molecular biology to join a collaborative and interdisciplinary team of scientists focused on illuminating molecular mechanisms that contribute to diseases, such as cancer, and studying how small molecules might regulate, or be used to regulate, complex biological processes, such as immune responses and metabolism.
Design, plan, conduct and supervise complex, novel or high-profile research projects that involve the mastery of specialized and/or extremely complex lab techniques and analyses; modify existing or develop new or improved lab techniques and evaluation criteria; ensure thorough data analysis and provide complex interpretations of results; operate sophisticated scientific lab equipment; may manage lab operations and/or supervise other lab/research personnel; and perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained. Requires a minimum of 10 years experience. Candidates possessing a Master’s degree, a minimum of 7+ years experience required.
Requires background/experience in proteomics, cellular biology, molecular biology (DNA purification, cloning, RNAi, CRISPR, recombinant overexpression) and assay development.
* Must be highly motivated, collaborative, excellent communicator, detail-oriented, well-organized and reliable for accurate performance of research analysis.
* Must be able to follow detailed instructions in the performance of experiments.
* Must be able to interpret results and will be responsible for accurate scientific research, documentation of results, and the evaluation/analysis of data.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Proteomics experience is highly preferable.
* Cell and biochemical assay development.
* Lentivirus production experience.
* Basic understanding of organic chemistry, drug discovery and chemical biology.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
